Cisa Group wins first place in Tuscany for research & development

Lucca takes the first place in research and development thanks to Cisa Production, the Lucca-based company that has become a world leader in the field of digital and technological innovation for infection control. Cisa was awarded the first prize for research and development as part of the Tuscany Innovation Award, an event supported by the Bureau of the Regional Council. The winning idea is called CAPSULA (Central Automated Process for Sterilization Units in a Lean Activity): the project is aimed at the healthcare industry and aims to automate and robotise disinfection and sterilisation operations, as well as to create a transportable capsule for the sterilisation of surgical instruments.

Under the slogan “A new idea makes great even the smallest of men”, the award ceremony took place yesterday in the Sala Gonfalone of the Palazzo del Pegaso, in Florence. The nine best projects were selected by a jury of high-level experts, which included Lorna Vatta (Director of the national Competence Centre ARTES 4.0 and Chairman of the selection board), Corrado Neri (CEO of Labromare and of the newco Livorno LNG Terminal), Gianluca Angusti (PR & Communication Manager for Brain Technology SPA and Manager of Computer Care SRL and PlayNet SRL), Andrea Arnone (Vice-Rector for Technological Transfer at the University of Florence) and Andrea Piccalunga (Professor of Innovation Management at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa).

The award was received on behalf of Cisa by the company’s CEO, Antonio Veronesi, together with Francesco Crotti, Cisa’s R&D Director; they were complimented by the President of the Regional Council of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, the Vice-President Lucia De Robertis, and Regional Councilors Nicola Ciolini and Antonio Mazzeo.

The Tuscany Innovation Award, now in its third edition, is made possible thanks to a protocol involving Confindustria (the General Confederation of Italian Industry), ANCI, (the National Association of Italian Municipalities), RETE Imprese Italia (Italian Enterprise Network, including Confcommercio, Confartigianato, CNA, Confesercenti, Casa Artigiani) and Unioncamere (Chamber of Commerce association) Tuscany.
